Tired of the slow crawl and heavy traffic on the LDP every morning? The contra-flow which will begin on December 8 may help ease up the traffic.
I was driving on LDP today and noticed that there are banners announcing that LITRAK, the company which manages the Lebuhraya Damansara Puchong (LDP) will start doing contra-flow at KM21 of the LDP, which is the Sunway toll plaza. Later I found out that some of the work that’s done on the Sunway Toll plaza a few weeks ago are related to the implementation of this system.
The rationale of implementing this contra-flow is to split the North bound traffic – one goes to Federal Highway, NEP and another one for motorists heading straight for Kelana Jaya. The latter will allow motorists to bypass the usual congestion before going up the Canon suspension bridge.
Based on my research, this isn’t the first time Litrak had done this. Back in 2010, a similar system was implemented which ironically caused massive congestion on the first day when. By December 8th which is Monday, we may or may not experience something similar to the congestion that happened a few years back. I’m not entirely sure why Monday is chosen since usually traffic is the heaviest on that day? If you happen to work at Litrak, do let us know!
What are the LDP Contra-flow Schedule and Details?
- The system will run on weekdays from Monday to Friday, in the morning from 6.30am to 9.30am.
- Vehicles heading North from simply follow the road signs if they wish to go to Federal Highway or straight to Kelana Jaya.
- Vehicles heading South (Putrajaya, Puchong) must only use Toll Plaza B as Toll Plaza A will be closed.
- No loose change! Please prepare your Touch’n’Go card!
Currently I don’t have any further details on this. This is only based on my analysis and observation therefore I won’t be able to guarantee the accuracy of this system. If you plan to use the highway on December 8, please be prepared for the worst!
