Are you a fan of Coke Zero but having trouble getting it in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor or in Malaysia? You’re not alone. Let me tell you where to get it.
UPDATE: Coke Zero is now officially available for the Malaysian market. I was able to buy them at 7-11 just a few days ago.
I was first introduced to Coke Zero while I was living in Beijing, China. After returning to Malaysia last year, I was quite surprised that I wasn’t able to get Coke Zero here. The only option available is Coke Light. Although both versions are made with aspartame but somehow I feel that Coke Zero tastes much better.
Someone commented on Quora (the popular online Q&A website) on why Coke Zero is not officially available in Malaysia:
This is not official but Coke decides which products perform better based on so many factors. For example, drinks that are “red” do not sell well in Western Canada yet completely opposite in Eastern Canada. Sooo – in Malaysia, “Zero” could mean poor luck or possibly a low calorie drink is not as popular.
Hmmm… I’m not sure how true is that. Anyway, let’s get straight to the point of where you can get it here in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.
- Jaya Grocer – DPulze Cyberjaya, KLIA2, Main Place Subang – 80-99% availability
- Marceto – Pavilion Kuala Lumpur – not always available
The Coke Zero sold in Jaya Grocer can either be imported from the UK or Singapore and it’s sold for RM3.50 each which is slightly over US$1.00 based on today’s exchange rate. You definitely won’t be able to find it at Tesco, 7-11, Aeon or any other major supermarket.
By the way, there’s this new reduced-calorie Cola called the Coke Life which I have yet to taste. The sweetener used is stevia instead of aspartame. I’m pretty sure it’s not yet sold here in Malaysia.
Please let me know if you manage to get it from your nearest Jaya Grocer or Marceto. If this post helps you in any way, please do me a small favour by clicking Like, +1 or Tweet below!
