Malaysians are blessed because there are many festivals and holidays in the country throughout the year. People are able to take one or two days leave to extend their break.

  • Chinese New Year – 6th to 9th February (Saturday to Tuesday)
  • Labour Day – 30th May to 2nd June (Saturday to Monday)
  • Hari Raya Haji – 10th to 12th September (Saturday to Monday)
  • Malaysia Day – 16th to 18th September (Friday to Sunday)
  • Awal Muharram – 1st to 3rd October (Saturday to Monday)
  • Deepavali – 29th to 31st October (Saturday to Monday)
  • Prophet Muhammad’s Birthday – 10th to 12th December (Saturday to Monday)
  • Christmas Day – 24th to 26th December (Saturday to Monday)

This is a bit less compared to 2015, which has a total of 11 long weekends.
